The Atletico Youth Goalkeepers Outdoor Program is a specialized, high-performance training environment designed for young goalkeepers who are committed to refining their skills and elevating their impact on the game.
This program goes far beyond shot-stopping. Our objective is to develop complete goalkeepers — players who understand the game, communicate effectively, manage space behind the defensive line, and confidently lead from the back in real match conditions.
Outdoor training allows goalkeepers to experience the true demands of the position, including larger spaces, longer distributions, varied shooting angles, and game-realistic scenarios. Sessions are carefully structured to integrate technical execution, tactical understanding, and psychological readiness.
Each session focuses on key performance areas such as:
🧤 Positioning and angle play in open-field situations
🧤 Handling, footwork, and distribution (short and long range)
🧤 Diving, recovery mechanics, and movement efficiency
🧤 1v1 situations, breakaways, and decision-making under pressure
🧤 Game awareness, communication, and reading the flow of play
Training tasks frequently include game-based scenarios and conditioned situations, allowing goalkeepers to apply techniques within realistic contexts that mirror competitive demands. Emphasis is placed on movement mechanics, ensuring efficient footwork, balance, and explosive actions that support consistent performance.
Led by professional goalkeeper coaches with extensive experience, sessions provide individualized feedback within a demanding yet positive environment. This ensures each goalkeeper develops not only technical confidence, but also composure, leadership, and presence in goal.
